Shopify App Store Report [2020]
I've analysed 4,195 apps on the Shopify App Store. This is what I've found.
One year ago, I published a report about the Shopify App Store that went viral (if you're not a millennial, substitute "viral" with "very popular").
In it, I tried to answer questions such as:
- What's the average price by category?
- How many have pricing plans do apps have on average?
- How does price correlate with rating?
- Do one-time charge apps have higher ratings?
- How does price correlate with reviews?
To say that people found the report useful is an understatement; over 20k people read the report and at least 5 apps were launched by people who read it.
So I thought it would be interesting to analyse the current state of the Shopify App Store to see what had changed in the last year.
And things have changed indeed. Some of them to a surprising degree.
The report is split into 3 main sections: Price, Rating and Reviews. Each metric is analysed through several dimensions, like pricing model, number of plans, category, etc. When it makes sense I comment the insight with a personal explanation.
The result is 23 pages filled with 12 charts and over 25 unique insights.
If you work in the Shopify ecosystem this is a must-read report and for a limited time, you can buy the report for $19 instead of $30.
